Hallo, I'm trying to install Root version 3.04/02 on a 8.1 Suse Linux Machine. I'm following the instructions "Installing Root from source" in order to produce locally the executable file. This, I hope, should minimize any conflict between different versions of compilers when using a software requiring Root. (By the way, I have gcc 3.2 on this machine). After typing the building command (./configure linux ; gmake), compilation starts searching for a long list of *.d files, missing at that stage but created later on (is it ok?). Unfortunately, compiling stacks after almost 1 hour. Problems seem to have something to do with missing files required by x11/src/GX11Gui.cxx Here a small sample of "complaints" In file included from x11/src/GX11Gui.cxx:32: include/TGX11.h:31:22: X11/Xlib.h: No such file or directory include/TGX11.h:32:23: X11/Xutil.h: No such file or directory include/TGX11.h:33:23: X11/Xatom.h: No such file or directory include/TGX11.h:34:28: X11/cursorfont.h: No such file or directory include/TGX11.h:35:24: X11/keysym.h: No such file or directory In file included from include/TGX11.h:37, from x11/src/GX11Gui.cxx:32: include/Xpm.h:85:24: X11/Xlib.h: No such file or directory include/Xpm.h:86:25: X11/Xutil.h: No such file or directory Many others error messages then follow.....: include/Xpm.h:390: parse error before `*' token include/Xpm.h:396: `Display' was not declared in this scope include/Xpm.h:396: `display' was not declared in this scope Then the final stack: gmake: *** [x11/src/GX11Gui.o] Error 1 Where am I wrong? Thank you all in advance, Ciao, Lorenzo
