Hello David, Hmm I don't think anybody tried. However the ROOT "Open Inventor viewer" has some feature you may be interesting in. When it is rendering some g3d ROOT it can create an extra Inventor node and populate it from the local "root.iv" file. As result on the screen one see the g3d and inventor objects all rendered together. (see: http://www.atsweb.neu.edu/hepvis01/Site/HEPVis01_Proceedings.pdf page 41 ) To see quickly how it works you can install ROOT on your Windows machine from http://root.bnl.gov (1 click will install all).
