Hi Valeri, I am not sure if you got all my messages - the thread in the ROOTtalk digest got really large. The latest info is: After compiling my own version of Windows, all problems where gone. With the old version, I built the ROOT test suite and all programs where working except tstring, which crashed immediately. I am absolutely aware, that there might be a mess of DLLs - the most likely reason for this is, that I have updated Visual Studio from version 5 to 5SP3 to 6 to 6SP3 to 6SP5 within the last year. I took great care, that there is no mess of root libraries. Nevertheless the ROOT TString problem is the one and only problem I have seen so far. Thanks a lot for your help Ciao, Andreas Valeri Fine wrote: > Hi Andreas, > > Let me repeat my question, > > "Did you try to build ROOT test suite (especially "tstring" test)?" > > If your problem cause is the "DLL mess" adding new software (like > cygwin) to your computer may have ended up with this mess "increased". > > I'd like to call your attention the crash you were speaking about was > not reproduced with either ROOT version. > > Hope this helps, > > ---- > Best regards > Valeri
