I had an impression that we are discussing software for developers. At least the subject still contains ROOT, which is not really a package for housewives.

I certainly don't know what is your wife interested in. Maybe she has a mobile phone ? - 50% of them use Java (J2ME). And you wife may even sometimes browse on the net so she is certainly accessing servers implemented in Java (those are the programs which you have refused as "not for users").
