Hi Ping, since you are asking, I'll mention that I am working on the integration of a lightweight (X11 only, no Motif) GUI package. It has a very extensive widget set (basically everything you have in, say, Win32) and will be fully scriptable via the interpreter. All X calls are abstracted via the single TGXW base class (TGX11 is the X version and TGWin32 is the Win32 implementation of TGXW). Initially we'll release it for X11 only, but once we have implemented the required member functions in TGWin32 it should also work on Win32. Porting to other platforms should from that moment on be quite simple. Only a version of TGXW for the new platform needs to be implemented. The time scale for the release in ROOT of these new GUI classes is for second half of February. Cheers, Fons. > > > Hi Rooters, > > I'm wondering if there are more GUI controls that one can > directly use in ROOT. Right now the easiest one to use is Tcl/Tk. > With a robust C++ interpreter and handy classes ROOT can be a good GUI DK, > too. > > cheers, > Ping > -- Org: CERN, European Laboratory for Particle Physics.
