This is absolutely correct and moreover I have already implemented different
functionalities overriding TH1 and other classes to fit my needs. In fact I
was trying to discuss if the feature I proposed might be interesting for
other root users. On the other hand it is confusing for my DAQ users to have
things like TMyNiceGraph in the solid system (ROOT). They used to deal with
TGraph ...

But you are right with you vision of life. That's what OOP is for :)

I haven't dug too deep in the guts of TGraph, but if it's well-designed, as
the ROOT classes I have read carefully certainly are, it should be very
straightforward to derive a new class from TGraph adding the new data
member and overriding the relevant painting methods of TGraph to do what
you want while leveraging most of the existing functionality of TGraph for
little cost.
