I found out why TTree was returning zeros for the results of using member functions of my class in TTree::Draw() and Scan() calls: I used "float" instead of "Float_t" for the return value of the member function. TTreeFormula interpreted "float" as being something whose value it could not return. On a side note, it does appear that Scan() is not as stringent as Draw() for determining the validity of a TLeaf name. If I give it a bogus name, Scan() just chugs away with garbage returned. -Gene Van Buren
