Dear friends, Another option is to install windows 2000 (or NT) on the notebook (which works correctly in all aspects) and then install the VMware package under windows. This will allow you to run win98/winNT/win2000 and Linux. I understood that with the new VMware version 2 (just released) all Linux facilities (incl. videocard, SCSI etc...) are fully operational.
