Thank you (esp. Rene and Ingo)
for giving me some hints about the possible
cause of linking problem.

I have checked the ROOT libraries (version 2.23)
that I was linking against.  
They were constructed with Sun's CC5.0.
And I was linking them with the object codes generated
by g++.
