I have not seen yet the documentation you are speaking about but I think 
there is no big problem to define 3D lines within ROOT.
For example TPolyLine3D class does this (see macro $ROOTSYS/tutorials/basic3d.C)

In libStar one can find several extra 3D primitives. I have to admit ROOT Web site
doesn't provide examples to show how they can be used.
