Hi Peter,
I am unfortunatly aware of this problem with TTreeViewer under NT.
I will disable this class on NT in the next release.

Understanding the problem requires help from NT experts.

I started investigating the problem several weeks ago and could not understand
the sequences that you are correctly reporting. Meanwhile Andrei Gheata has 
developped a more user friendly version of the TreeViewer in Root version 3.0.
This version is currently running only under Unix. The NT port requires the GUI
classes fully working under NT. This is unfortnatly not yet the case.
