Dear Colleagues, The University of Lisbon ATLAS group is opening a post doct position to work on distributed data analyses strategies to be used in future by the ATLAS collaboration. The work plan involves research and development of the, ROOT based, PROOF functionality, including its detailed comparison with the Objectivity solutions within the GRID framework. We aim at studying the optimal characteristics of the client/server solutions to be used remotely to browse the ATLAS physics data. The Lisbon TDAQ/Software Group is specifically funded to study innovative database solutions both for the Trigger DAQ online and offline environments. This includes the databases for the control of the DAQ system, the calibration and alignment databases and the database solutions for the event access. We aim at providing a creative environment where new ideas are welcome. It is foreseen that the research on the ATLAS analysis frameworks can optionally include the physics studies leading to the strategies to be applied to the data obtained in the future for specific physics channels. Please do not hesitate to contact us at Antonio.Amorim@fc.ul.pt if you feel some excitement on "attempting new ideas" under our sunny environment. All the best, Antonio Amorim
