I have tried using localhost instead of cluster and I still got same error
messages. I think we can conclude now that the proof.conf is not the
problem :( Then where did I go wrong?

I am not using AFS hence I don't need .rootnetrc in my home directory,
right?

I notice that your ROOT session written below did not ask for username and
password. Is it really like that? My ROOT session asks for the username
and password.
