[ROOT] Version Number While Compiling

Dear Rooters,

is it possible to detect the Root version number while compiling?

I'm thinking about a feature like:
root-config --cflags
[...] -DROOTVER=2 -DROOTSUBVER=25 -DROOTSUBSUBVER=3 [...]

This would be very helpful to make it possible that some parts of our
own code can be compiled using different versions of root.
