 In general every bidy solve this problem himself.
 For example for STAR we are writing sevral files simulateously.
 Even ROOT would provide such service we would disable it. 

ROOT provides some low-level features. Those we happy with.
When your task hits 1 Gb file limits usually no generic tool helps. 
One needs custom solution anyway.
