BTW, 2.95.2 is no longer the newest stable GCC.  2.95.3 has been
released (Jan 2001).  I have been using this successfully under Debian
GNU/Linux (x86) since it came out.  Unless there is known issues with
Alpha arch (a cursory glance didn't fine any), might as well install
this one.
