[ROOT] Problem with TCanvas when using KDE 2.1

Dear Rooters:

For some reasons I had to reformat the harddisk of my PowerBook, so
I did a clean install of LinuxPPC 2000 Q4 and KDE 2.1.
I added two users, as one user I compiled the new root 3.01/06, as
the other user I compiled an old version, root 3.00/01.

When running the tutorials I realized that TCanvas does no longer
update correctly: Moving another window over the TCanvas window
erases its content. Activating TCanvas does not help, only clicking
within TCanvas restores its content. Even pulling down one of the
menus of TCanvas does erase the content covered by the pulldown menu.
Opening the "Marker Type" window with View->Markers does display the
markers only after clicking within the markers window.

This behavior is independent of the root version tested, and can
also be seen when switching to GNOME 1.4.
The TBrowser window does not display this behavior, neither does
the GuiTest example.

I did not experience this behavior on my old system which consisted
of LinuxPPC 1999 and KDE 1.2.

Is this a known behavior of TCanvas when using KDE 2.1 or GNOME 1.4,
or is this specific to the Mac?
Is there a way to correct this behavior?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards
Christian
