Dear Brett, dear Fons Thank you for your reply. It seems now that other people also see this effect. One main advantage of root is that it runs on different architectures, and this tends to reveal hidden bugs, maybe this is one? BTW, I a running XFree 3.3.6 and my XF86Config file does not contain the backingstore option. Furthermore, I do not believe that I mix two versions since I have set up a separate user for each of them and compiled each when logged in as user and not as root. However, I compiled 3.01/06 with the following configuration: ./configure linuxppcegcs --enable-star --disable-cern \ --disable-mysql --disable-pgsql --disable-pythia --disable-pythia6 --disable-rfio \ --disable-srp So probably pthread is disabled. Should I enable this feature?
