As I understand, it is more an issue of the TPad.  One would need a
way to alter the underlying TPad (or a subclass) to allow "sub
ranges".

Maybe you can accomplish these gaps in your time series plots through
some creative use of 2 TPads side-by-side and the TPad::Range()
method.
