[ROOT] Where did 8 bit X3D support go?

Good Day,

First off I should thank you for adding color support for 15/16 bit
terminals to X3D.  It looks a lot better.

But I just tried using Root 3.06 (we've been using 2.x) and on my older
terminals, X3D only displays white images.

Is there some way to select the needed X3D mode?
