Hi,

just to give some positive feedback. I have no problemes compiling ROOT 
from CVS on RH7.2 (standard, not the CERN version).

:~> cat /etc/redhat-release 
Red Hat Linux release 7.2 (Enigma)

:~> g++ -v

concerning X:

:~> locate /Xlib.h
/usr/X11R6/include/X11/Xlib.h

XFree86-devel-4.1.0-3

:~> file /usr/include/X11
/usr/include/X11: symbolic link to ../X11R6/include/X11
