[ROOT] checking a root file

Hej Rooters,

I was trying to write a simple tree to a file. During that I get following error message:
Error in <TTree::Write>: No file open

Despite this error message, the output file is created and the tree is written to that.

Now my problem: with Linux everything works well, with Alpha OSF, root crashes with any comment
after opening the file and doing a command like tree->Print().

Is there a possibility to check root-files? How can I avoid the error quoted?

I'm using root 3.02/05 with Suse Linux 7.2 and 3.02/05 with OSF V4.0F.

thanks

Gernot
