Hi,

This binary distribution format would be helpful to me as well.  Could you
just choose one of the formats say "root/3.02.07/" as the default.  I would
be willing to conform to whatever you chose to eliminate the extra
installation step.

  there are several schemes possible, like "root/3.02.07/" or
"root-30207" or ..., therefore we rather continue like we are doing now
and just untar into "root" after which the user can rename the directory
to the name he/she prefers.
