Hi Nick, I agree that the TreeViewer should have an option in the GUI to select and show a given entry number. Meanwhile, you can use the often ignored function TTree::Show The best way to browse a given entry is to store your structures in TFolder and use TBrowser. The version of ROOT 3.03 to be released in June will contain additional facilities to automatically generate Trees from TFolder and vice-versa Rene Brun Nick van Eijndhoven wrote: > > Dear friends, > I am looking into event-by-event analysis for several experiments and in > doing so it would be convenient if the TreeViewer and TBrowser facilities > would have the following functionality. > > * In a root session one connects a chain of trees containing exp. data > * To investigate the data one starts-up a TreeViewer of TBrowser > * The TreeViewer and TBrowser contain a button "Load next entry" > (even better would be the additional option to specify a specific entry > number with e.q. -1 meaning "next"). > * Once the entry is "loaded" the various plotting commands should only > show the data of the currently loaded entry. > > Could something like this be implemented, or is this already available ? > > Cheers, > Nick. > > -- > Dr. Nick van Eijndhoven mailto:nick@phys.uu.nl http://www.phys.uu.nl/~nick > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Org.: Utrecht University/Nikhef, Department of Subatomic Physics > Address: Princetonplein 5, NL-3584 CC Utrecht, The Netherlands > Phone: +31-30-2532331(direct) +31-30-2531492(secr.)
