[ROOT] rootcint: error in loading shared libraries

Dear rooters,

when compiling and linking my code with ROOT my make stumbles on the step
of generating dictionary with the following error message:

Generating dictionary ...
rootcint: error in loading shared libraries: libCint.so: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory
make: *** [litranidict.cpp] Error 127

This in spite of the fact that the SHLIB_PATH is set correctly:
SHLIB_PATH=$ROOTSYS/lib, where libCint.so resides:
% ls $SHLIB_PATH/libCint.so
/afs/cern.ch/na49/library.4/ROOT/pro/i386_redhat60/root/lib/libCint.so

Any ideas how to fix it. Thanks in advance.
