[ROOT] How to define a 'timeline' histogram?

Dear Rooters,
    I need to monitor a few quantities continuosly over time, and therefore
I would like to have the possibility of displaying a histogram that 
periodically
updates both it's content AND it's ordinate values (min and max).
It should progress over time with user-definable parameters, such as
frequency of update, past history depth and the possibility, driven by 
means of
a scrollbar to move along hidden parts of the histogram.

Does such a tool already exist or should I consider writing one on my-own?
