Hi Francois, If I remember well, this problem was already brought up a long time ago. Therefore on the ROOT download page, the suggested 'autoexec.bat' lines for ROOT indicate c:\root as preferred directory. The suggestion of this silly Program Files directory you mention probably comes from the install shield stuff. My opinion is that one has to be very careful with this install shield stuff, since it edits your autoexec.bat. >From the Qt version from the BNL site I have seen that sometimes this 'autoexec.bat editing' is not performed correctly. Furthermore, un-installing the (Qt) package again even removes the standard ROOTSYS etc... definitions, which clearly is a pain in the a.. Therefore I would suggest users to just install the binaries using the 'good old tar files'.
