[ROOT] Colors on X-Windows

Dear Rooters,

we are using root to display data together with a web-based database.
Therefor users have to run netscape to use the database which then starts
an interactive root-session to show the data.
Everything is fine for 16- or 24-bit displays, but root runs out of colors
on 8-bit terminals (because Netscape is using most of the colors) and
therefor can't show menues.
Is there a way to make root set up a new colormap or anything else?
