Re: [ROOT] ROOT for MacOS X

Hi George and al.,

I believe Keisuke's fixes for gcc apply only to gcc 2.95, which was used
with MacOSX 10.1. Jaguar (10.2) uses gcc 3.1 which doesn't need any fix.
But it is best to use the December Dev tools (available on apple
developper site, though it is quite big to Download). This is only for
Jaguar, not MacOSX 10.1, where you will have to apply Keisuke's fixes for
the compiler.
For the rest, you may use Keisuke's tools OR Fink, which provides
everything else, like dlcompat, bash, etc..
except of course the physics tools like CERNLIB, which I believe you can
find at CERN, though I didn't try.
>From what I understood, Fink and Keisuke's tools may live side by side on
a system, but you probably don't need both.

Lastly, Apple released a few weeks ago an accelerated version of an X11
server which works quite nicely and is very simple to install. Again, I'm
not sure it all works on 10.1

Conclusion : if you can, upgrade to Jaguar

Cheers

Damir
