Hi Marc, I always use this procedure and never had any problems with it. However, you say you used the 'installer' before; do you mean the install shield ? With the install shield I have experienced several problems in the past, i.e. sometimes it might screw up you autoexec.bat settings (i.e. environment variables). Please check whether your autoexec.bat correctly contains the few lines as mentioned on the ROOT web page. Just to be sure, then shut doen your machine and startup again. Then everything should work.
