[ROOT] RootX11ErrorHandler

I have just downloaded and compiled root 3.04 from source on a Debian
Linux system. and I encounter this problem:

Error in <RootX11ErrorHandler>: BadMatch (invalid parameter
attributes) (XID: 180355131, XREQ: 55)

right after i launch root on the linux machine which I connect to via ssh
from a sun workstation, i.e., the X-server is on my local sun workstation,
but root is running on the remote linux machine. then if i run Draw, root
will hang, after emitting the same error. If i sit on the linux machine
and run root (i.e., both X server and root on the same linux machine where
i installed root), it runs fine. It seems to me that root is having some
problem with the X server (which is X11R5) on my sun machine? Is this a
known problem?

also I can't seem to compile root on my sun workstation with Sun's CC4.20,
is that to be expected as well?

Thanks.
