Currently they are indeed mutual exclusive. Should be enhanced.

Transparency is not implemented for PS. For the display it is implemented
by copying the lower level pad pixmaps into the transparent pad and 
increasing the pixel values depending on the transparency percentage.
This algorithm should also be applied in PS, but is not.
