[ROOT] Problem with COLZ display in 3.05/03

I am just beginning a search of possible causes for this problem, and
would appreciate any assistance.

THE SETTING

I am running a multithreaded Qt application which interfaces with ROOT
and has been running for over a year now. Everything is currently built
on Linux (RedHat 8.0) using GCC 3.2 (which is the setup successfully
used for the last four months).

I usually build ROOT from CVS, but I only update it once a month or so
(because I have to wait for lulls in production work to update the
installations on all the workstations).

I just updated ROOT from CVS today. The last successful version was
updated on 21 Feb 03.

THE PROBLEM

The problem with the current version of ROOT: when I draw a TH2D using
"COLZ", I get the x/y axes and nothing more. There is no data displayed,
and there is no z legend display.

When I bring up the DrawPanel, the surface and lego plots work, but the
contour, colors, arrows, and boxes plots do not work (all that is
displayed is the x,y axes). I have not tried other options, yet.

Unfortunately for me, I can run tutorials/draw2dopt.C from ROOT and
everything works fine, so I can't provide example code that fails.

I have downloaded both the root_v3.05.02.source.tar.gz and
root_v3.05.03.source.tar.gz distributions for testing. My application
works with 3.05/02 but fails with 3.05/03.

Note: the only difference between the working application and the
"broken" application is the version of ROOT. I just remove one version
of ROOT and install the other and rebuild my application. No other
software on my workstation changes.

THE PLAN

My plan is to go through and make small incremental changes to
transition ROOT from 3.05/02 to 3.05/03 and see what makes my
application break.

THE PLEA

If anyone on this list has any insights into possible causes for this
behaviour, I would be most grateful to hear them.

Thanks,

Tony Colley
