Hi, Root is now available as fink package (http://fink.sf.net) for Mac OS X. It is based on the production release 3.04.02. If you like to use it, you have to enable the unstable tree of fink (see http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/usage-fink.php#unstable). Please let me know if you encounter any problems. If it works well for you, let me know, too. Then the root package can move to the stable tree which makes it more easy to access. In order to make the root package conforming to the fink policy, I had to enable the versioning of the root libraries. The standard versioning implemented in the root makefiles adds the versioning information at the end of the libraries, i.e. libCore.so.3.04. On Mac OS X all libraries have the version before the extension, i.e. libCore.3.04.so (in contrast to Linux where both versions are common). I changed the makefiles to produce the latter format and tested them both on Mac OS X and Linux RH 7.2. I attach the patch file (against the current CVS version) in case that you'll like to incorporate this change into the ROOT CVS. Cheers, Remi
