[ROOT] How to fit a function to several histograms at the same time?

Hi rooters,
	Is there a simple way of fitting a user defined function to
several histograms at the same time? The problem is rather usual : I try
to fit some parameters using several observations summarized in different
histograms (that may not be compiled: e.g. fitting the parameters of a
resonance using several channels).
Of course, what one would do in a non-object-oriented framework is just to
fetch data from all histograms into arrays and fit them...
