[ROOT] problem intalling root

Hi rooters, I have a RedHat 8.0 with gcc3.2. I downloaded the Source of 
root, but when i type :
./configure linux
it returns that it doesn't find libX11.
I have looked for something like that in my system and a found only a 
file called libX11.so.6 and libX11.so.6.2 in /usr/X11R6/lib.
I don't know if these are the correct file because i'm not very good 
with pc.
 Do you know what can i do to install root? Thank you
