Hello
I have intalled on my PC root for windows (i have windows XP/tablet) with
cygwin and also installed visual studio. Root works fine when i start it
from the "black dos" window. I get the root prompt and it correctly opens
all other graphics windows and performs all kinds of operations (i tried
some). However, when I start root from "linux like environment" obtained
with startxwin.bat, it pops up the orange root cookie but It doesn’t get
to the root prompt, i.e. it gets stack on some interrmediate command. The
same happens from the environment startx. What can i do? (i would like to
run root inside the unix like env of course..) Maybe an indication of the
problem is that when i run paw from the same environment i do not have a
completely working promp. For instance the repetition command (upper
arrow) doesn’t work, while if I run paw from the black dos window it
works.
 Thanks Walter bonivento
