Hi Gernot,

You have two possibilities
  -take the version 3.05/07a from http://root.cern.ch/root/Version305.html
   This version is generated with today CVS version.
  -import libshit.so from ftp://root.cern.ch/root/shift/libshift.so.1.5.2.3
   copy this file in /user/local/lib and make a link
    libshift.so ->libshift.so.1.5.2.3 (in /user/local/lib)
