attached mail follows:

Dear ROOT/Qt users, I would like to create graphical user interfaces with ROOT using Qt library, because I can then use the QtDesigner in order to create the GUI and execute it from root as shared library. The advance for me is that I don't have to "code" the GUI but really design it using a graphical tool. I found the QtRoot website at http://root.bnl.gov, however the contents of this website are quite confusing to me. I have some questions regarding QtRoot, hopefully someone can answer them. 1. On the Qt website I learned that there is a commercial version of Qt and a GPL version of Qt. Is it possible to use the GPL version of Qt as library needed for QtRoot ? 2. Does anyone know whether the QtDesigner is included in the GPL version ? 3. Is there a Qt/Free version for Solaris 2.6 ? 4. Is there a howto-manual in order to get Qt and QtRoot to work under Solaris 2.6 ? 5. Is there someone who is working with QtRoot on Solaris 2.6 ? I can imagine some of these questions are simple ones, please excuse. I am just getting started with Qt and ROOT. Thanks to everyone who is willing to answer my questions. regards, Stefan Weisse DESY Zeuthen http://www.ifh.de
