Dear rooters, my problem concerns the compilation/linking of a customized version of libEvent.so ( I'm quite sure that it is correctly written (fully C++ compliant!!!!), but... ) On my laptop, with Linux Mandrake 8.1 and ROOT Version 3.03/09 18 September 2002, the compilation/linking does work properly. Otherwise, on the following desktops: one with Linux RedHat 7.2 and the same version of Laptop's ROOT ( Version 3.03/09 18 September 2002) && one with Linux RedHat 7.3 and ROOT Version 3.05/07 27 July 2003 the creation of the dictionary fails and I get the following error messages: g++ -O -Wall -fPIC -D_REENTRANT -I/usr/usersm/chiarusi/zonalavoro/root/include -c Event.cxx Generating dictionary EventDict.cxx... make: *** [EventDict.cxx] Segmentation fault (core dumped) make: *** Deleting file `EventDict.cxx' I realized this anomaly somehow about one month ago. Before that date my codes were regularly compiled and linked with both Laptop and desktop with ROOT Version 3.03/09. (I tried Version 3.05/07 only today for some test). I guess that the problem should be related to the general maintainence of our systems by our system managers (i.e. some library changed after RedHat suggestion to patch it for security reasons...)... But I'm not sure... Has anyone of you got a similar problem? Any suggestion (for some tests... i'm currently upgrading the Laptop root to V. 3.05/07 ) Thank you, Tommaso -- ----------------------- Dr. Tommaso Chiarusi Dipartimento di Fisica Universita' di Bologna INFN.
