Hi Brandon,

It is our plan to introduce a version of ROOT supporting large files
during 2004. Most of the work is already done. However, for compatibility
reasons, we are deliberatly waiting several months such that most users
have generated their files with versions greater or equal to 3.04.
We are also discussing the introduction of a file checksum algorithm requested
by the GRID software and we want yo minimize the number of file format changes.
