A few years ago were being accused of doing everything in ROOT, and that in the next version we will send email from TObject and turn on the coffee machine. I think it might nice to have a SMTP class that allows one to send email for reporting (but not in TObject :-)). Maybe for the time being you could survive with using TSystem::OpenPipe() to send a mail message using "/bin/mail". If you mail me a TSMPT (TMail) I will consider it. Cheers, Fons.
