Hello Andreas, > Hello everybody, > I now have installed cygwin and compiled my own ROOT version based on > the latest cvs version. > And all problems are gone! Everything works as expected! > I am still puzzled what the reason for the problem might have been... > It seems that not only on Linux, but also on Windows one has to > recompile ROOT to be sure to get a working system. It is not problem of any particular system. On either system the code should be compatible with version of system and compiler run-time share libraries (DLL). >From what you said is still sounding you do have two and more different versions of VC++ run-time libraries on your path. Usually it is the result of manual installation / de-installation of some package('s) Since you did not find it then your current applications (by the way not just ROOT rather entire system) may have been working properly "by chance". So you should try keep looking for the cause > Thanks a lot for all of your help adn your invested time, Best regards, Valeri > Andreas
