Dear ROOT Team,

I've installed the latest 4.00/08 binaries
ftp://root.cern.ch/root/root_v4.00.08.Linux.RH7.3.gcc296.tar.gz in my
linux box (redhat 7.2).
I'm glad to see all these nice new attribute editor widgets implemented.
However, when I create a canvas and try to access any of the options in
the menu bar, my X server freezes invariably with the following error:

Error in <RootX11ErrorHandler>: BadAccess (attempt to access private
resource denied) (XID: whatever_id_here, XREQ: 33)

I've checked two of the "standard" recommendations to deal with X11
problems to no avail:

- Setting "X11.FindBestVisual: no" in my
/usr/root4.08/etc/system.rootrc does not solve the problem.
- xdpyinfo tells me my number of color planes is 16.

Previous ROOT versions root3.05.03, root3.05.05, root3.10.01, root4.00
worked without problems in the same machine.

Any clues ?

Thanks in advance.
