Hello, I am running into problems with 4.00/08c on an up to date Debian unstable system. The problem is completely reproducible, but is so serious that I'm sure it is specific to something I'm doing. I'm looking for pointers so that I can isolate the problem. Here is a transcript of a typical session. physics@boxer:~/root/pro/bin$ root ******************************************* * * * W E L C O M E to R O O T * * * * Version 4.00/08 9 September 2004 * * * * You are welcome to visit our Web site * * http://root.cern.ch * * * ******************************************* FreeType Engine v2.1.3 used to render TrueType fonts. Compiled for linuxdeb with thread support. CINT/ROOT C/C++ Interpreter version 5.15.138, May 23 2004 Type ? for help. Commands must be C++ statements. Enclose multiple statements between { }. root [0] TCanvas c1; root [1] Error in <RootX11ErrorHandler>: BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied) (XID: 54526083, XREQ: 33) physics@boxer:~/root/pro/bin$ The error occurs when I select one of the canvas menu bar items and I get the same results if I start root.exe directly. I've checked the LD_LIBRARY_PATH, and it contains "/home/physics/root/pro/lib" which contains the correct root libraries. After triggering the error, root has to global focus and I need to kill the process from the console.
