Hi Jan,

When you install ROOT from source, you must activate the PYTHIA or 
PYTHIA6 optional packages(s), eg in your ./configure options, have:
 --with-pythia-libdir=$HOME/pythia \
 --with-pythia6-libdir=$HOME/pythia6 \
