The TStyle doc says:

Reading my guess would be that you get only the parameter using:
gStyle->SetOptFit(1)
But you get also Chi/ndf and Errors.
Playing a bit with the option I found you get what you want with:
gStyle->SetOptFit(2)
I will check why the obvious way does not work as explained in the doc.
