Instead of TBrowser use the TTreeViewer. You can start the TTreeViewer from the browser by using the context menu item "StartViewer" on the name of the Tree in the left pane.

Once you are in the TTreeViewer (see HELP button) you can use a slider to select the first and number of entries to be processed.
