Hi Christian,

 The page looks interesting. It is worth having a closer look. I read quickly the pages it says: "LyX is an advanced open source document processor running on many Unix platforms.", I hope it does not mean it only works on Linux ! if it is the case it is useless for us.  Note that ROOT already uses "True Type Fonts directly" to render text on screen. All the problems we encounter are to find the matching between TTF and PostScript/PDF fonts. "calligraphic L" has not been yet implemented because of that.
