Hi, I have a problem in installing Root v5.10.00.

I have just issued:

./configure linux

(or simply ./configure)

followed by

gmake

(or make).

I get:

.......
g++ -O -pipe -Wall -W -Woverloaded-virtual -fPIC -Iinclude -pthread -o proof/src/TProofQueryResult.o -c proof/src/TProofQueryResult.cxx g++ -O -pipe -Wall -W -Woverloaded-virtual -fPIC -Iinclude -pthread -o proof/src/TProofResourcesStatic.o -c proof/src/TProofResourcesStatic.cxx g++ -O -pipe -Wall -W -Woverloaded-virtual -fPIC -Iinclude -pthread -o proof/src/TProofServ.o -c proof/src/TProofServ.cxx proof/src/TProofServ.cxx: In member function `virtual void TProofServ::HandleSocketInput()':
proof/src/TProofServ.cxx:1430: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate. See <URL:http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla> for instructions. The bug is not reproducible, so it is likely a hardware or OS problem. make: *** [proof/src/TProofServ.o] Error 1

The system is Scientific Linux, latest version (4.2), on a Pentium IV 2600 MHz,
512 MB RAM. Here is "uname -a" output:

Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.9-22.0.1.EL #1 Thu Oct 27 10:38:16 CDT 2005 i686
 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

gcc --version gives

GCC 3.4.4 20050721 (redhat 3.4.4-2)

I have also reinstalled linux (I had just installed it, so it was no big work),
just in case it was some sort of installation problem; same result. Of course it may still be possible that the disks I am using for the installation contain some problem.

Any hint?
Thanks.

Giorgio
